Press release about Cooperative agreement signed between Rospatent and Federal antimonopoly service

On 9th of April, 2010 in Federal Agency of intellectual property, patents and trademarks (Rospatent) had took place the signing ceremony of the Cooperative agreement between Rospatent and Federal antimonopoly service (FAS Russia). The agreement has signed by the head of Rospatent Mr.B.P. Simonov and head of FAS Russia Mr.I.U.Artemyev.

In his opening address Mr.Boris Simonov has noted the importance of the signed Agreement, especially in modernization of national economy and transition to an innovative way of development.

The head of Rospatent has said that, the unique monopoly which recognizes the FAS Russia, is a patent monopoly.

«The nature of intellectual property creation is put in such a competitive environment, in which monopoly is assured only through intellectual property», - said Mr.Boris Simonov.

The agreement will define the general principles of interaction FAS Russia, its territorial agency and Rospatent on realization of functions by them in the established fields of activity. The agreement makes provision for interaction of departments and in organization of joint events with a view of effective performance of the problems assigned on FAS Russia and Rospatent by standard legal certificates of the Russian Federation.

«Development of innovative economy is impossible without protecting intellectual property rights. FAS Russia and Rospatent prosecute this subject together for a long time. Today's agreement will allow to lift our interaction on a new level», - said head FAS Russia Mr.Igor Artemyev.

Head FAS Russia has suggested colleagues to take part from Rospatent in working out of amendments in the antimonopoly law regarding protection of intellectual property rights.
