Eurasian Patent Filing & EAPO Prosecution

Assess your Eurasian filing route, prepare Russian-language materials and manage patent prosecution with a defined scope.

For international businesses and IP counsel

What this service delivers

IPPRO assists international businesses and foreign patent counsel with evaluating a Eurasian filing route, preparing application materials and managing prosecution before the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO). The engagement can cover a defined filing task or coordinated support through examination and grant. The scope and responsible professionals are confirmed before work starts.

This route may be relevant to technical inventions intended for Russia and other participating markets. A Eurasian patent is not an EU patent, and the Eurasian Patent Organization is distinct from the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). We assess the countries you need rather than treating these territories as interchangeable.

Application process

  1. Initial review. Establish the applicant, inventors, target markets, existing filings and urgent dates.
  2. Filing strategy. Review the available route, priority or PCT history where applicable, and whether additional searches or national filings need consideration.
  3. Technical preparation. Review the description, claims, drawings and supporting material. Confirm Russian terminology and translation responsibilities.
  4. Filing and prosecution. Prepare the agreed documents, manage official correspondence and discuss responses to examination objections.
  5. Grant and maintenance. Confirm grant formalities and the relevant country-by-country maintenance arrangements. Later portfolio work is agreed separately.

Documents and information

  • Application text, claims, drawings and any available search or examination reports;
  • earliest application and priority details, PCT documents and current deadlines;
  • applicant and inventor information, including the basis of entitlement;
  • details and dates of publications, exhibitions, offers for sale or other disclosure;
  • target countries and commercial timetable;
  • powers of attorney and other documents identified for the chosen procedure.

For an initial enquiry, a non-confidential summary and deadline list are sufficient. Agree the transfer method before sending unpublished technical material.

Costs, timing and limitations

Translation volume, technical complexity, claim structure and examination issues affect the quotation. Professional fees, official fees and maintenance costs should be distinguished. We provide a matter-specific scope rather than a universal price or guaranteed grant date.

A foreign patent grant does not establish Eurasian patentability. A patentability assessment also differs from a freedom-to-operate review: obtaining a patent does not itself clear a product against third-party rights. Disclosures and filing dates require early review; do not assume that a grace period is available.

For U.S. and other international counsel

Please identify the instructing firm or business, the rights owner, the application history and the precise task requested. Existing claims and official correspondence help define the handover. Applicable engagement, payment and compliance requirements are assessed for the individual matter rather than assumed from the applicant's country.

Who handles the work

IPPRO confirms the responsible team, any required professional representation and translation arrangements after conflict checking and technical assessment. We do not imply a U.S. office or U.S. admission by serving clients based there.
